Using the internet and your mobile phone can be lots of fun, but there are some things on them that aren't so good. Follow these quick tips when you're going online:
- Use a safer search engine such as AnyQuestions or Ask for Kids to explore
- Check with your parent or caregiver if you want to give out personal information such as your name, mobile number or school
- Remember not everything you read online is true; don't get sucked in
- If you're chatting, keep safer by staying in public chat areas
- Think about what you write online. Would you be OK with your parent or caregiver reading it?
- Treat yourself and others with respect online
- Some attachments and downloads can damage your computer so check with your parent or caregiver before you open attachments or download free stuff
- Explore cyberspace with your parents or caregivers – you might help them learn something new!
- Get help from a trusted adult if something makes you uncomfortable
